OVERALL WEEK REVIEW:
This week was all about Marathon recovery. I came home from Paris on Monday with a new Marathon PR in my pocket. I wanted a sub 2h45 and I did 2h44’52. I will post my race report a little later today if I am happy with it.
The big surprised of the week was that I could actually walk. Even better, I could go down a flight of stairs normally. This has never happened after a Marathon before. Following NY last year, I could barely control my legs at all for a few days. I guess I learned something this time around; run sub 2h45 and your legs won’t hurt J.
I trained only 9 hours this week. I could not wait to go back to the pool after more than 2 weeks of absence. I did a total of 9,100 yards and actually felt pretty good. I clearly lost a little but nothing dramatic. I could still last a 1h30 swim practice. I spent very little time on the bike. I am not happy about that. I have left the bike aside way too long. This slacking off simply has to stop.
Since my legs were fine, I could not resist the temptation to participate to a 10K race on Saturday. I had not planned to do it but since there was an impromptu Running for Margo Run’n Brunch also happening, I went. OK, it was not really smart and I was clearly not recovered yet but still, I managed a 37’57 and that only 6 days after a sub 2h45 marathon. I don’t know what that means really but it makes me happy anyway.
